Ms. Ollie Ree Ousley

August 1, 1933 ~ June 6, 2020 (age 86)


Ollie Ree Ousley was born on August 1, 1933 in Terrell County, Georgia to the late Deacon Arelious Ousley Sr. and Deaconess Mary Magdalene Ousley.

Ollie confessed life at an early age at I Hope Baptist Church in Terrell County.

Ollie was well rounded in education. Upon graduating from Carver High School in Dawson, Georgia. She enrolled at Albany State College (University) and earned her Bachelors of Science Degree in Elementary Education. After teaching for many years in Georgia, she transferred to the Pennsylvania Education System obtaining employment in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. While in Pennsylvania she earned her Masters of Science in Education degree as well as her Christian Education degree. She worked and served with the Albany Chapter of the Albany State University Alumni Association.

While in Philadelphia, her church home was the 10th Memorial Baptist Church, in Philadelphia, PA, where Dr. William B. Moore was Pastor. She was a faithful member for many years. She sang in the sanctuary choir, mission choir, and dedicated herself to serve in her church. She united with Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church upon returning to Albany, GA under the leadership of Pastor, Dr. Daniel Simmons. She served faithfully in many auxiliaries until her health failed.

She traveled the United States, and abroad to Africa, Europe, and the Middle East and loved to share with others about her travel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Patricia Ann Ousley, Ruby Pope, Betty Russell, and Gladys Hemphill and two brothers Arelious Ousley Jr and Sammy Ousley.

She leaves rejoicing memories to her family, two sisters, Pastor Mary Whitley of Albany, GA and Nellie (Joel) Williams of California, one brother, Allie (Kim) Ousley of Lilburn, GA two sister-in-law, Mildred Davis Ousley and Renita Hawkins Ousley of Albany,GA along with two brothers-in-law, Eugene Russell III of Atlanta, GA and Larry J. Pope of Jacksonville, FL and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
