Rev. Silas Chester Jackson was born on August 10, 1957 in Worth County, Georgia to the late Bobby Ellison and Arnet Jackson Smith. He transitioned to be with our Heavenly Father on April 16, 2020, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
Rev. Jackson was a son of the house at the New Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. He served as Pastor of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church on Lee County for thirteen years and as the Pastor of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Albany, GA for ten years. He graduated from the Bryant Theological Seminary of Fitzgerald, GA and was a member of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. and the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia. He was deeply loved by those that he served and was known as a caring and compassionate minister who preached the Gospel from his heart.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Jimmy Ellison, Bobby (Alma) Ellison, Eddie Jackson, Curtis Jackson, and Mose Jackson. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Emma Tuff and Tannie Ellison and one special daughter, Terry Green-Rogers.
He leaves to cherish a life of love, his children, Delicia (Gregory) Williams of Norman Park, GA; Jennifer Jackson of Albany, GA; Zenobol Jackson of Tifton, GA, Kevin Jackson of Sylvester, GA and Sharamane Jackson of Virginia, children that he raised, Yolanda Jackson of Tifton, GA, John Jackson of Moultrie, GA, and Jarvis Green of Tifton, GA, six sisters, Betty Heppard of Doerun, GA, Annie Ruth (William) Hobbs of Albany, GA; Bobbie M. Jackson of Doerun, GA; Myrtice (Herbert) Whaley of Moultrie, GA, Diann (Bobby) Johnson of Sylvester, GA and Eloise Irving of Virginia Beach, VA, six brothers, David Jackson of Moultrie, GA, McArthur (Joyce) Ellison, Charles Ellison of Tampa, FL, Coatsey (Regina) Ellison of Atlanta, GA, John D. (Gwen) Ellison of Albany, GA and Herman (Jan) Ellison, one aunt Bessie Mae Jackson, seven grandchildren and a host of nieces nephews church members and friends.
